Who are you?

I’m neither a fascinating person nor a compelling writer, but I do enjoy watching myself type, which is probably the main reason I blog in the first place.

  1. My name is Natalie.
  2. I am 24 years old.
  3. I live in Houston.
  4. I started this blog as a Xanga page in January of 2003, then moved to my own domain in September 2005.
  5. I like it much better here.
  6. In the fall I will start law school at the UH Law Center.
  7. I’m pretty freaking excited about that.
  8. I plan to focus on intellectual property law.
  9. I graduated in May 2008 from the University of Houston, majoring in Math and Physics, with a Latin minor.
  10. Between 2002 and 2004 I went to school at a hardcore little place out in SoCal called Harvey Mudd College, where I was a Math/Astrophysics double major. I spent most of my time there stressing over the workload, despite the fact that I did very little actual work.
  11. I am a huge nerd.
  12. But neither a dork nor a geek.
  13. If I could play Quiz Bowl seven days a week, I would.
  14. I have one brother, three years younger and a foot taller than I am.
  15. I’m good at math, especially probability and statistics.
  16. I’m pretty good at physics.
  17. I have a knack for languages, though so far I haven’t put in the time and effort to learn a second spoken language well.
  18. Someday I will be a teacher. I don’t know when, or how, or at what level. I would like to do something else, retire, and then teach.
  19. I teach LSAT classes part-time for a test-prep company.
  20. I’m learning Japanese taiko drumming. Funnest hobby ever.
  21. I’m also learning to sew.
  22. I have a boyfriend.
  23. His name is John.
  24. We’ve been dating since March 2007.
  25. I live with a scruffy little terrier mix, my first dog ever.
  26. His name is Sam.
  27. He is cuter than your dog.
  28. Settlers of Catan is my favorite board game.
  29. Douglas Hofstadter’s Gödel, Escher, Bach is my favorite book.
  30. I keep my apartment warmer than most people keep their bathwater.
  31. I do not own a television.
  32. I am half Dutch. I don’t speak the language nearly as well as I’d like to.
  33. I did NOT like living in California.
  34. I remember most of my dreams.
  35. I am a grammar nazi.
  36. I don’t believe in God.
  37. I shop at Old Navy. Especially the clearance racks.
