Like Year-in-Review, but shorter and memier
I’ll still do my usual Year-in-Review, so don’t get your hopes up that you won’t have to slog through those acres of text, but some sciency folks are doing a condensed bloggy version in which they repost the first sentence of the first blog post each month.
By golly, that sounds like a great way to get a new post up while exerting little to no creative effort! Just the thing for the week after finals week, when my thoughts turn from Greek and Quantum to Christmas shopping*.
January: Starbucks stores in Seattle, San Francisco, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Diego, Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Washington, and Portland are no longer using trans fats in any of their food products, starting today.
February: So my posting volume here has been way down of late for various reasons, none of them interesting.
March: One of my classes took a practice test this morning.
April: Blogging, like many things, is subject to inertia.
May: My last class of the semester was this past Monday, and my finals will be Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of next week.
June: Now that I’ve spent the last hour and change on an entirely different post, my wireless card has decided it doesn’t want to play with Linux any more.
July: 1. Purchase AT&T U-verse internet service for your new apartment.
August: Touring the monkey house at the zoo, I passed a group of YMCA campers: a dozen kids, eight or nine years old.
September: I seem to have strained my eyes, or at least that’s what it feels like.
October: Well, I’ve gone and done it again.
November: Well then.
December: It’s over.
My opening sentences show a moderate shortening trend. October, November, and December all opened with references to NaBloPoMo.
As alluded to in February and April, my blogging output has been relatively thin this year. Scrolling back through the months, I found only a few with more than one page (ten posts) of archives. I seem to be doing okay now, after the NaBlo boost, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed for more flowy typing fingers in the future.

* You guys, I do not have a SINGLE Christmas present ready to go, and it’s kind of freaking me out. Usually I have a stash that I collect over the course of the year, and I pick up the last few in early December. Right now I only even have an idea for ONE person’s present. Panic!
