Getting my feelings out, Part II

Ready for more? Part I is here. Once again, all grammar, spelling, and (especially) punctuation decisions are my 10-year-old self’s.

March 5, Sunday

Last night was fun even though I couldn’t sleep very much. The fog was so thick, you couldn’t see a quarter mile with your headlights on (and I’m not exaggerating)! It was fun to watch other cars tailights fade off into the distance. I got about 7 hours of sleep.

This morning we tried to watch the sun rise, but we couldn’t see anything through the fog. We stopped at a Denny’s for breakfast. I had French Toast. It was good! Now there was only 6 hours to go.

After about 15 minutes, we saw the first snow of our trip. Here is a picture of it!

[Here I drew a picture-sized bubble inside which I intended to later affix the picture I took at that moment. I still have the photo, but it never made it into the journal.]

Then we traveled on passing many ski resorts and large snow-covered mountains. Our view became prettier as we got into a canyon. Then we were on a bridge. There were two tunnels on the bridge. Finally we got off in Glenwood Springs. I wanted to do it again!

All of a sudden a big snowstorm started and we were driving right through it! The roads were very icy and slippery, and we came to a large curve and spun out of control! I was very scared and jumped out of the car immediately after the car crashed into a snowbank! Me, mom, and Nicholas walked up to our condo while my dad waited for a tow truck. I left all of my stuff behind, except for my camera!

We went to the office, and the lady there told us that we were staying in condo L-4. We walked up to it, opened the door, and looked around. Here is a picture of it!

[Another bubble.]

This place was great! It had everything! It had a TV, a VCR, two double beds, a sofa, a revolving chair, a ski rack, a ski closet, 8 cupboards, 2 clothes closets, two tables, a refrigerator, a microwave, a dishwasher, a stove, an oven, two sinks, a cheese grater, silverware, glasses, plates, 4 chairs, a mixer, a toaster, a teapot, a spatula, 5 bowls of various sizes, 4 soup bowls, 4 salad bowls, a ladle, a big fork, a soup pot, coat hangers, a cookie sheet

Here the manuscript ends abruptly. I guess whatever I found after the cookie sheet was more interesting than my careful documentation of the kitchenware.

Again with the exclamation points. Life was more surprising at ten, it seems. But some of those marks of intensity were justified. I mean, I almost died!* And the condo had a cheese grater! And 5 bowls of various sizes! Who could have imagined such a thing?!

This is all there is to my ski trip journal, unfortunately. Once we got there I was too busy vacationing to sit down and document my observations for the future’s amusement. The world is poorer for it.

* This incident was actually quite scary. I didn’t mention in my journal that the snowbank that stopped our Suburban was on the edge of a ravine.
