Unleashing my inner 13-year-old

Since I haven’t been writing anything lately, I might as well shamelessly steal and repost content from my YouTube channel. No, I haven’t made another Holland video yet, I’m sorry to say (it’s the next one on my list, I swear!), but I did dance around like the nerdy white girl I am.

Do you release stress by dancing? I do. Should I put “dancing” in quotes when I use it to describe the uncoordinated flailing-about that appears in this video? I should.

You can read the description on the original video page—I won’t paste it all here—but it will suffice to say that this was a good-sized project. I filmed it in November (thirty-ish takes, for an hour of raw footage), and did most of the editing over the holidays, when I had hours on end of free time. The last twenty seconds remained unfinished until last Friday, when I finally sat down for a couple hours and powered through it.

Do I regret all those hours “wasted” on something so silly? Nah, not really. This was some of the most fun I’ve had in a while. Ah, to be thirteen and carefree again.

My thirteen-year-old self would DEFINITELY be a Hannah Montana fan. I mean seriously, what preteen girl *doesn’t* dream of being an ordinary kid by day, rock star by night?

So even without the sound (which is how I watched this video), and even without being exposed to Hannah Montana, this movie is awesome. I think you should make music videos more often, because everyone needs an excuse to dance on the couch. And how is it that Sam didn’t make an appearance?

If you turn on the sound, the song’ll get stuck in your head for DAYS. Fair warning.

You missed him?! Granted, he wasn’t exactly featured, but the puppy appears in no fewer than seven clips, by my count.

  3. Sara Says:

Ok, so he was on screen, but he just sat there! (Or got covered up by the YouTube in the corner). We need some Sammy dance moves, for the next video. Granted, I’m not sure how well he’d learn the electric slide, so maybe we’ll just have to settle for him jumping around and wagging his tail.

    Hi Nathalie,

You don’t know me, I am a 38 year old Dutch female who surfs on the internet a lot. I came across your very amusing video’s on Holland on YouTube and started to watch them all. It’s a very (great) weird and new experience to have seen all your video’s, almost like I know you a little bit. Just wanted to let you know that. Hope you are doing fine, not sure because I have not found an update on Larry yet. (Perhaps I am not looking close enough)

    Hartelijke groeten uit Nederland,

    Tat

PS: Look forward to see more footage of Holland! ;-)

    Geez….
How long do you keep comments waiting for moderation…?
It’s been several days now. Sorry, I guess I’m just not accustomed to these rules and all… :-)

    Hey Tat!

Thanks, I’m glad you like my Holland videos! It’s always fun to hear what Dutch people think of them. Sorry I haven’t put one out in a while — I hope to get the next one finished soon.

Larry’s gone now, and I’m fine, thanks for asking. =)

I turned on comment moderation to stop the flood of spam. I’ve gotten 419 spam comments in the last two days, and if i didn’t use the moderation queue, they’d all have shown up on the site. I try to clear out the queue once a day, but sometimes I don’t get around to it.

Everything should work fine from now on, though. Once you’ve had one comment accepted, any future comments will appear immediately, as long as you use the same name and email address.

    Groetjes!

I just got hooked on your videos a few days ago :).
Found them for searching wuppies :).
And i’ve solved the 24 game thingy in 10 minutes also (the one with 5 5 5 1).
    Its:
    1/5 = 0,2
    5 - 0,2= 4,8
    4,8 * 5 = 24 :)
    is this correct or?

    You got it. =)
